The Tourism Council of Frederick County created this site as a convenience to the media reporting on the Camp David 2012 G-8 Summit on May 18 – 19, 2012. Frederick County, Maryland, home to the presidential retreat Camp David, is less than one hour from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. Our region is preparing to welcome visitors from the G8 countries of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, and from around the United States to the Camp David 2012 G8 Summit.

During the G8 Summit, many of the areas around Camp David, including Catoctin Mountain Park and Cunningham Falls Park, will be closed. These areas offer some of the most scenic views that fully capture the serentiy Camp David has offered American presidents. For your convenience, we have included video footage and photographs of these areas that may be off-limits during the G8 Summit either because they are closed or located in a remote location.
In addition to the story ideas on this site, we are collecting contact informtion from local citizens who have stories to share about Camp David in the past. Many of these sources have stories related to past dignitaries and presidential visits at Camp David, and are familiar with the local area and the impact Camp David has had on the area.
